White Star Recruitment Scholarships: Applications are now closed for Fall Semester 2015

SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 12, 2015

Looking for financial assistance to help cover the costs of college?…Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji can help!  Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji is committed to promoting leadership and scholarship.  Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji is offering White Star Scholarships to support the higher education of quality men and aid in the development of strong leaders within the Ohio University community.

Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji at Ohio University is offering White Star scholarships ranging from $500 – $2,000 each.  The White Star scholarships are funded by the Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji graduate brothers in support of men attending Ohio University interested in participating in the InterFraternity Conference recruitment process.

Applicants are not required to pledge Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji to be eligible to receive a White Star scholarship.  Selection is based on the five values of Phi Gamma Delta/Fiji: Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality and Excellence demonstrated by academic performance, leadership, community involvement, and response to application questions. Applicants may be interviewed locally or on-campus during the fall semester.

During the fall semester 2013, a total of six (6) White Star Scholarships totaling $5,500, and ranging in amounts from $500 to $2,000, were awarded during the fall semester colonization recruitment process. Five (5) of the six (6) recipients ultimately pledged Alpha Omega Delta Colony. In the 2014 fall semester, five (5) White Star Scholarships totaling $5,000 were awarded, ranging in amounts from $500 to $2,000. This fall (2015), Alpha Omega will again make available up to $5,000 in scholarship funding in the form of White Star Scholarships to prospective men attending Ohio Univeristy who participate in the InterFraternity Conference recruitment process.

Those interested in Phi Gamma Delta and who submit a Recruitment Form are automatically placed under consideration for a White Star Scholarship.

Becoming a Member

One of the most important and exciting ongoing events at the Alpha Omega Delta Colony is recruitment, or rush. Phi Gamma Delta has a rich history and tradition on campus and we are continuously building our future.

The future of our fraternity is determined by the quality of men we recruit each year. The success of our fraternity on campus is a by-product of the level of excellence we uphold in our chapter and brothers. We at Phi Gamma Delta take great pride and put forth a tireless effort to initiate the best brothers at Ohio University. Our recruitment process consists of four main steps recruitment, bidding, pledging, and initiation.

At the end of the recruitment period, our brothers assemble to select potential brothers we believe would best represent the values and attitude of our fraternity. We will issue bids to these men. Once the potential members receive the bid and they accept, they will begin pledgeship. Our pledging process lasts a few months and, after successfully completing this process, they will be initiated as brothers and welcomed into our fraternity.

Any high school seniors or current OU students who are interested or have questions about rushing the Alpha Omega Delta Colony of Phi Gamma Delta, please feel free to contact our Rush Chairman, Liam Rhodes '17, at lr738112@ohio.edu. Our schedule for upcoming recruitment events is posted on our events calendar. We look forward to seeing you soon.
