Events

Alpha Omega sponsors multiple events throughout the year that bring together current brothers and alumni. The Ohio University Homecoming in the fall and the annual Norris Pig Dinner in the spring are two highly anticipated events that brothers look forward to all year long.

Norris Pig Dinner

The Norris Pig Dinner, which began in 1893, is the premier annual graduate function for Phi Gamma Delta chapters. Named in honor of Frank Norris (California at Berkeley 1894), the Pig Dinner has endured for over 100 years as the chapter event that is designed to bring graduates back to the chapter to reminisce about college days and enjoy fellowship in Phi Gamma Delta. The Pig Dinner has served this purpose well.

Alpha Omega's 51st Anniversary Norris Pig Dinner will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at The Ohio University Inn. Full weekend activities will be posted later this year; however, we typically begin weekend festivities on Friday evening at the house for a graduate/undergraduate barbecue dinner. Saturday mornings feature a golf outing, coupled with the annual meetings for the Alpha Omega Graduate Association (House Corporation) and Board of Chapter Advisers (BCA). Following these meetings, brothers adjourn for lunch, socializing, and campus tours. Dinner typically begins at 5:45 p.m. for refreshments and hors d'oeuvres, followed by a sit-down dinner at 6:45 p.m.

Homecoming

Homecoming is a special time for any OU Alum. Ohio University's 2016 Homecoming Weekend is scheduled for October 3 - 8, 2016 in Athens, Ohio. We welcome any Alpha Omega alums to stop by the house if they are in town during Homecoming. Homecoming weekend festivities may be viewed here.

Fiji Academy

The Fiji Leadership Academy, conducted in St. Louis, MO generally the first weekend of each year in January, is designed to acquaint newly-elected chapter officers with the knowledge and skills needed to lead their chapters. Participants are exposed to the basic elements of chapter operations as well as higher level leadership development.

The Archons (board of directors) attend, taking advantage of this opportunity to hear first-hand of the chapters’ successes and challenges. Frequently, brothers of national prominence will attend and address the attendees.

The Academy also includes tracks for graduate volunteers who serve as Purple Legionnaire (chapter advisor) and Section Chief (regional volunteer officer).

The 2017 FIJI Academy will be held January 6 - 8, 2017.
