40th Anniversary Campaign

Letter from AOGA

                                                                                                                             November 2005

Dear Brothers,

As we approach Alpha Omega’s 40th Anniversary, in 2006, we can look back with a great deal of pride and satisfaction at its development & many accomplishments. First and foremost, is the knowledge that the Chapter has always stayed true to its most significant core value – the nurturing and perpetuation of friendship, from which so many lifelong relationships have evolved. I constantly hear from grads all over the country & the world and am struck at how very deep and enduring are those bonds which were permanently formed at Alpha Omega over four decades.

Whatever the challenge, in good times or bad, the Brotherhood has always met that challenge head-on and persisted! Whether it was achieving the Charter in a single year (1966), challenging the University in federal court over unfair University policies (1981), purchasing the new House (1986), winning the Condon Cup for Most Improved Chapter (1990), funding & building the Chapter Room (1991), winning the President’s Trophy (1993), establishing a permanent Annual Tuition Scholarship Endowment (1994), planning & implementing the $450,000 House Renovation (2002-03), or launching the new Chapter Website (2005)………. Alpha Omega has always persisted!

Now, as part of our 40th Anniversary Celebrations, our challenge is to raise $40,000 in order to bring our permanent Scholarship Endowment principal (currently at over $60,000) to $100,000. As you know, a permanent, restricted Alpha Omega Chapter Scholarship Endowment was established, through The Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation, in order to provide one, or more, annual $1,000 Tuition Scholarship to deserving Alpha Omega Brothers. Since 1999, twenty-four Tuition Scholarships have been awarded from earnings on principal and direct graduate gifts. (The endowed principal cannot be touched).  Our challenge now is to raise additional funds to perpetuate the second of Alpha Omega’s core principles …… “Knowledge”. With your generous tax-deductible 501(c)3 gift, we will meet this challenge head-on as well!

Please join with me in building a continuing legacy of commitment and pride in Alpha Omega by making a generous contribution, in the amount of $40, $140, $240, $540, $1,040 or more, as part of this 40th Anniversary Fund Raising Campaign. Please make your check out to: The Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation and write “Ohio Chapter” in the memo portion of your check. Contributions should be mailed to: AOGA, c/o 3805 Apple Way, Marietta, GA 30066.

Brothers making an accumulative contribution of $500, or more, are invited to serve on AOGA’s Scholarship Endowment Committee which oversees the formulation of fund raising goals, determination & review of eligibility criteria, and selection of the annual scholarship recipient(s).

Brothers, Thank You, for your dedication, loyalty and support of Alpha Omega. And, don’t forget to mark your calendar for the 40th Anniversary Celebrations in Athens, April 28th - 30th 2006.

Fraternal Regards,

Dave
