Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity General History
The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta was founded on May 1, 1848 by John Templeton McCarty, Ellis Bailey Gregg, Samuel Beatty Wilson, Naaman Fletcher, Daniel Webster Crofts and James Elliott on the campus of Washington and Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Phi Gamma Delta is an international men’s social fraternity that has chapters on the most respected and leading academic campuses throughout North America.
The Fraternity has provided its brothers with lifelong friendships, academic assistance and encouragement, social opportunities, and career connections for the years beyond college.
