In Memoriam

Phil Ellis '87

It is with deep regret and sorrow that we mourn the death of Brother Phil Ellis’87. Phil died Sunday August 30, 1998 at his home in California.

Phil was a man of sincerity and compassion, with a zest for life. As a pledge Phil was full of laughter. He touched many of our lives with his fun and enjoyable character.

Phil believed in the ideals and values of the Fraternity – Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality and Excellence. Friendship, being the sweetest influence, Phil was a friend to many of us. The friendship he provided will live on in our memories of him. Knowledge, the key to a fulfilling and enriching life. An educated man will always be rich in knowledge. Service, the duty to serve our fellow man, Phil served both the fraternity and his community. Donating time and effort to the Glendale Community Foundation, he sought to help underprivileged kids in his community. Morality, the foundation of true character, Phil continued to do what was right as an individual and for his fellow man. Excellence, the ability to fulfill our potential, Phil always strove for excellence in his job and any task he attempted.

Phil is survived by his mom Kay, his dad Bobby, his Brother Bill and Fiji twin Brother Jim Ellis’87.

A memorial scholarship fund in Phil’s name has been set up and contributions can be sent to: The Phil Ellis Memorial Scholarship, c/o The Glendale Galleria, 100 N. Brand Blvd., Suite 316, PO Box 313, Glendale, CA 91209. Contributions can also be made in Phil’s memory to: The Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation/Ohio Chapter, c/o The Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation, 1201 Red Mile Road, PO Box 4599, Lexington, KY 40544-4599.
